Help for parents & carers

If you’re reading this page, you’re probably already familiar with some of the changing emotions your child is experiencing, so we’ll avoid cracking jokes about teenage tantrums or door slamming.

The teenage years can shape a person’s entire future, so if you’re worried about your child’s current relationship, now is the time to act to help them make positive changes.

That means resisting any temptation to raise voices or bark instructions. It means doing at least as much listening as talking. And it means reassuring your child that they can talk openly and honestly to you about important issues.
